Conservation of habitat 8310 in the Natura 2000 Cheile Nerei – Beuşniţa Site

During the period 27-28 November 2017, a working meeting was held in Sasca Română, organized by the Timiş Environmental Protection Agency, within the LIFE 13 NAT /RO/001488 project “Conservation of habitat 8310 in the Natura 2000 Cheile Nerei – Beuşniţa Site, with the aim of informing the target groups about the efforts undertaken to achieve the project objectives.

On the first day, information about the project and the results of the project implementation were presented. Vulnerabilities of the caves and karst in the Natura 2000 Cheile Nerei-Beușnița Site were presented and concrete measures for the conservation of habitat 8310 and bat species in the Cheile Nerei – Beușnița Site were presented. At the end of the activity, constructive discussions took place regarding the need to protect the caves and bats in the Natura 2000 Cheile Nerei – Beușnița Site.
The second day was dedicated to an applicative activity in the project area, through an on-site visit to a polluted and degraded cave – Ponor Uscata Cave, Anina ATU, for which conservation and protection works will be required.

The target group included representatives from the Administration of the Cheile Nerei – Beuşniţa National Park, Caraș-Severin County Council, Caraș-Severin Environmental Protection Agency, Timiș Environmental Protection Agency, National Environmental Guard – Timiș County Commissariat, National Environmental Guard – Caraș-Severin Commissariat, Oravița City Hall, Anina City Hall – Tourist Information Center, Cărbunări City Hall, Sasca Monatană City Hall, Ciclova Română City Hall, representatives of NGOs, the Speleological Association Exploratorii from Reşița, GEC Nera Association and Speo – Caraș Association from Oravița. The event was covered by both local media in Caraș-Severin County and in the media in Timiș County. 7 articles appeared in the written press.
