During 26-27.11.2016, over 40 cavers from the five Banat organizations gathered at the “Mihai Eminescu” Theater in Oravița, within the Annual Meeting of Cavers from Banat, organized by the Speo-Caraș Speleological Association from Oravița. Such meetings bring together cavers from Banat to discuss and present the results of the work of each speleological association in Banat.
The event was attended by: Speleological Association Exploratorii Reșița, Speleological Association Prusik Timișoara, Speleo-Team Speleological Association from Timșoara, Speo-Caraș Speleological Association from Oravița, Association of Ecological Collaboration Group Nera and Timiș Environmental Protection Agency, represented by Georgeta Țîțan, manager of the LIFE project “Conservation of habitat 8310 in the Natura 2000 Site Cheile Nera – Beușnița”.
Thematic photographs were presented, representing landscapes with places where speleological activities take place, formations inside the caves, and in the second part of the action, films and slides were presented reflecting part of the actual field work of the speleologists.
The event was opened by the president of the Speo-Caraș Oravița Association, Ion Gheorghe Chiran, by addressing a few words of greeting and presenting the program of the action. Ms. Georgeta Țîțan from the Timișoara Environmental Protection Agency and representatives of each speleological association addressed a few words of greeting to those present, the closing speech belonging to the president of the Romanian Speleology Federation, Bogdan Bădescu.
After the festive moment, it was time to watch the films made by each association. The first two films related to caves were screened by Speo-Caraș, followed by a presentation of the project of the Timiș Environmental Protection Agency and the Reșița Explorers Association. The Reșița Explorers Association presented a film representing the caves they worked on in 2015. The speleologists from Prusik Timișoara brought a film of the Triton Cave, and the Speleo-Team presented a film from the photo exhibition in Spain.
The second day of the Annual Meeting of Speleologists from Banat was dedicated to going out into the field to visit a cave. Some of the speleologists visited the cave, while others prepared the traditional goulash stew.
On this occasion, we announced the activities and results of the project, exchanged opinions and made plans for future activities. Because we have a common goal, the protection and conservation of habitat 8310, we believe that such meetings must continue.
