Between December 18 and 19, 2019, we organized the third meeting with stakeholders in Oravița, with the aim of informing target groups about the efforts undertaken to achieve the project objectives, but also to consult and involve participants in order to provide a framework for an exchange of ideas and involvement in the protection and conservation actions of caves in Caraș – Severin County.
During the meeting, we brought to the attention of the public and decision-makers in the field of environmental protection, the issue of protecting habitat 8310 and the underground ecosystem.
The actions to conserve habitat 8310 and bat species from the Cheile Nerei – Beușnița Site were presented, as were the activities with a negative impact on habitat 8310 and the results of the project implementation.
At the end of the activity, constructive discussions took place regarding the need to protect caves and bats from the Cheile Nerei – Beușnița Natura 2000 Site.
The second day was dedicated to an applied activity in the project area, by visiting a polluted and degraded cave – Ponor Uscată Cave, Anina ATU, for which conservation and protection works will be necessary.
The meeting was attended by representatives of the Caraș-Severin County Council, the Caraș-Severin Environmental Protection Agency, the National Environmental Guard – Caraș-Severin Commissariat, the Cheile – Nerei Beușnița National Park Administration, the Caraș-Severin Water Management System – Apele Române, local public authorities in the project area, as well as NGOs in the field of environmental protection and speleology.
