We installed information panels regarding waste management in key locations throughout the project area so as to discourage the abandonment of waste in nature.

👷♀️We unblocked the cave entrance blocked by shepherds and placed this grid that protects animals, people, bat species and the cave habitat.🤝🦇🐏🐴
❤️Thus, we ensure the favorable conservation status by restoring the surface, structure and functions of the habitat of 8310 caves inaccessible to the public🇪🇺.
✅️We apply conservation measures that support the national park administration with the aim of Romania’s compliance with the Habitats Directive🇷🇴.
NATIONAL KARST ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION CONFERENCE, SEPTEMBER 21-24, 2023
During 21-24.09.2023, we participated in the Karst Environment Protection Conference, organized by the Exploratorii Speleological Association in Reșița, Caras-Severin County as part of the Rural Karst project, a speleological education and conservation project of the karst environment at the national level.
During the conference, 40 presentations, exhibitions and discussions were held within seven sessions, with the following topics relevant to the management of the karst environment:
Session I. Institutional and non-governmental involvement.
Session II. Innovation and technology in karst investigation.
Session III. Vulnerability of the karst environment.
Session IV. Disadvantaged rural environment.
Session V. Field application – Karst in the Anina & Miniș Gorges area.
Session VI. Celebration of the Exploratorii organization 60+ years.
Session VII. Conservation actions; conclusions.
Friday, 22.09.2023, during Session I. Institutional and non-governmental involvement, Ms. Alina Călușeru, director, Timiș Environmental Protection Agency presented the Role of the APM in regulating activities and implementing conservation projects
Saturday, 23.09.2023, during the Vth Session, Field Application – Karst in the Anina – Miniș Gorges area, Mr. Bogdan Bădescu as technical manager presented the restoration and decontamination actions carried out within the project in Ponor Uscată 1 Cave and Ponor Uscată 2 Cave,
Sunday, 24.09.2023, during the VIIth Session, Conservation actions, were presented: Results of the Habitat Conservation Project 8310 from Site N2000 Cheile Nerai – Beușnița, Results of the restoration and decontamination of caves in SCICNB by Ms. Narcisa Crista, monitoring specialist and the National Action Plan for Habitat Conservation 8310 by Mr. Bogdan Bădescu, technical manager of the project.
During the congress, informative materials regarding the action plan for the conservation of habitat 8310 and informative materials produced within the LIFE 13 NAT/RO/001488 project were exhibited.
The conference was attended by 65 specialists from 29 institutions and organizations: researchers (Emil Racoviță Institute of Speleology, Academy of Medical Sciences), professors (University of Bucharest, West University of Timișoara, Decebal Caransebeș Technological High School, Sabin Păuța High School of Arts Reșița, Technical College Reșița, “Traian Lalescu” National College Reșița), civil servants from decentralized institutions (Agency for Environmental Protection Timișoara, GNM, County Directorate for Culture Caraș-Severin, National Agency for Protected Natural Areas), representatives of local public administration (Reșița City Hall), companies and state regis (Apele Române, Administration of Semenic – Caraș Gorges National Park, Administration of Cheile Nerei – Beușnița National Park), commercial companies (Scanbox Bucharest, Graphein Topo Bucharest, Wilderness Wilderness Research and Consultancy Bucharest), museographers (Banat Museum), journalists (Știri din Banat, Jurnal de Caraș, Ragnarok), members of the NGO sector (Association for Sustainable Development DAKIA, Prusik Timișoara, Romanian Association for Speleological Education, Euroland Banat Association, WWF Romania, Speleological Association Exploratorii) and students from rural areas.

Project Closing Conference
“Conservation of habitat 8310 of the Natura 2000 Site Cheile Nerei – Beuşniţa”
On 13.12.2024, starting at 12:00, we organized the Project Closing Conference “Conservation of habitat 8310 of the Natura 2000 Site Cheile Nerei – Beuşniţa” – LIFE 13NAT/RO/001488, in Timișoara, at the headquarters of the Timiș Environmental Protection Agency in Timișoara within the LIFE 13 NAT /RO/001488 project “Conservation of habitat 8310 of the Natura 2000 Site Cheile Nerei – Beuşniţa”, with the aim of informing target groups and the general public about the efforts undertaken to achieve the project objectives, presenting the results obtained during the project implementation period.
The project was carried out between 01.07.2014-15.12.2024, and has a value of 849,430.00 euros and is financed by the LIFE + Nature program and the Ministry of Environment, Waters and Forests. The LIFE 13 NAT /RO/001488 project “Conservation of habitat 8310 from the Natura 2000 Cheile Nerei – Beuşniţa Site” was implemented by the Timiş Environmental Protection Agency for a period in partnership with the Exploratorii Association, after the withdrawal of the partner from the project we continued the collaboration with the Exploratorii Association.
At the opening of the conference, Ms. Executive Director, Alina Lavinia CĂLUȘERU briefly presented the purpose and objectives of the project and congratulated the project team for the effort made to achieve the project objectives.
Ms. Georgeta ȚÎȚAN, as project manager, presented in detail the activities and results obtained within the project.
Ms. Narcisa CRISTA, specialist in monitoring habitat 8310 and monitoring bat species, presented in detail the monitoring of the impact of actions on habitat 8310, as well as the monitoring of the effects of actions on bat species. The field work method, data collection, data processing and the results obtained were presented.
The event was attended by over 25 people, representatives of local public institutions, Timiș County Council, Timișoara City Hall, environmental NGOs and colleagues from the Timiș Environmental Protection Agency.
Exchange experience France Germany 2022
- During 23.07.2022 – 30.07.2022 we organized the Exchange of Experience with a project/site from France and Germany.
- In France, we participated in the 2022 International Speleology Congress, organized by the French Speleological Federation, under the aegis of the International Speleological Union, where we presented the scientific paper “Cave restoration and depollution: Towards a favourable conservation status of the 8310 habitat (ROSCI0031, SV Romania)”, (Cave restoration and depollution: Towards a favourable conservation status of the 8310 habitat (ROSCI0031, SW Romania)), within the Karst, Heritage and Resources Symposium.We rented a stand at the International Speleology Congress, where we presented the results of the project and where we had the opportunity to interact with more countries than those proposed.
In Germany, we visited karst sites (Felsn Cave, Blautopf Karst Spring, Laichinger Tiefenhöhle Cave – Laichinger Deep Cave in the Schwäbische Alb UNESCO Geopark and the Speleology Museum set up at the cave entrance) in the state of Baden-Württemberg, accompanied by Mr. Uwe Kruger, president of the Baden-Württemberg State Association for Cave and Karst Research e. V. (Landesverband für Höhlen- und Karstforschung Baden-Württemberg e. V.) and member of the Scientific Council of the Schwäbische Alb Geopark.

2021 – World Environment Day
WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY – June 5, 2021
REcreate. REimagine. RESTORE
Students from schools in the area of the LIFE project “Conservation of habitat 8310 in the Natura 2000 site Cheile Nerei-Beușnița”, celebrated together with the Timis Environmental Protection Agency, World Environment Day, which is the most important ecological event worldwide.
Students from the “Mihai Novac” Sasca-Montană Junior High School captured the beauties of nature in the Cheile Nerei – Beușnița National Park. We thank the students and the Director Prof. Boriță Carmen- Dorina.
Now is our moment. #GenerationRestoration
We cannot turn back time. But we can plant trees, green cities, reconfigure gardens, change our diets, clean rivers, seas and oceans.
We are the generation that can make peace with nature.

The Timiș Environmental Protection Agency and the Children’s Palace of Timișoara exhibited materials produced within the framework of joint ecological education activities on environmental protection, at the “Akademika Banat Chorus Creativity & Innovation” Student Fair, held within the framework of the “International Multidisciplinary Conference on Sustainable Development – Trends in the Development of European Agriculture”, organized by the Banat University of Agricultural Sciences and Veterinary Medicine “Relege Mihai I of Romania”, Timișoara.
The Timiș Environmental Protection Agency also disseminated information materials produced within the framework of the LIFE project Conservation of habitat 8310 from the Natura 2000 Cheile Nerei – Beușnița Site.
June 5, 2022 – WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY – One Earth!
World Environment Day, celebrated by the Timiș Environmental Protection Agency (Timiș APM) together with students from the Steierdorf Secondary School No. 2 and the Matias Hammer High School in Anina, from the area of the LIFE project Habitat Conservation 8310 from the Natura 2000 Site Cheile Nerai Beușnița, through #GreenDialogues and activities that revealed the creativity and ingenuity of children in the face of such generous themes as: biodiversity conservation, climate change, proper waste management and combating pollution!

International Conference – “Reshaping Territories, Environment and Societies: New Challenges for Geography”
In the period November 15–16, 2024, participated in the International Conference “Re-shaping Territories, Environment and Societies: New Challenges for Geography”, organized by the Faculty of Geography, University of Bucharest.
The objective of the organizers was to generate a conducive environment for the exchange of ideas and practice between the fields of applied research and teaching in both higher and school education. The debates focused on: space and place, natural/physical environment, global change, economic crisis, environmental crisis, water crisis and global warming, policy development, political dimensions in developing societies, development forecast, project implementation and the challenges of educational reform on the ground. both for the Romanian environment and for other European countries.
On the first day of the conference, Ms. Maria–Laura TÎRLĂ, GIS specialist within the project, presented the paper entitled: Cave restoration, depollution and monitoring
in the Cheile Nerei-Beușnița Natura 2000 site (ROSCI0031, SW Romania).
Three workshops were organized during the conference and several topics were addressed:
