

Between August 30 and September 1, 2019, we held the Thematic Conference on the Conservation of Habitat 8310 in the Natura 2000 Site Cheile Nerei – Beușnița within the National Speleology Congress, organized by the Speleology Club Association “Politehnica”, under the aegis of the Romanian Speleology Federation, which took place in Şuncuiuș, Bihor County.
During the conference, concrete aspects regarding the need for the rehabilitation and protection of 8310 were presented, as well as the field results of the rehabilitation and decontamination works of habitat 8310 in the Natura 2000 Site Cheile Nerei – Beușnița, carried out within the LIFE 13 NAT/RO/001488 project Conservation of Habitat 8310 in the Natura 2000 Site Cheile Nerei – Beușnița.
The Congress brought together approximately 200 explorers and mountain enthusiasts, and the SpeoArta Opening was attended by seventy exhibitors from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain, Romania, Russia, San Marino, Spain and Hungary, entering the competition with 450 works of photographic art and audio-visual materials with themes related to the karst relief.
The National Speleology Congress included scientific communication sessions, thematic conferences, video projections, the SpeoArta opening, the TSA (Alpine Speleological Techniques) competition, speleological education activities and speleological exploration and recreational activities.
